Good conservation decisions begin with accurate, accessible information. Blue Ridge Biodiversity Conservancy shares science-based guidance that helps people understand native species, recognize ecological threats, and make responsible choices that protect local wildlife and habitats.

Responding Responsibly to Wildlife

Knowing when—and when not—to intervene can protect both people and wildlife. Our educational materials help the public recognize common wildlife situations, avoid harmful actions, and contact permitted professionals when care is needed. Although we are not yet accepting public bird intakes, our injured-bird guide provides immediate steps for responding safely.

We are developing educational resources and future outreach opportunities for schools, community groups, landowners, and the public. Topics may include native birds, orchids, carnivorous plants, habitat restoration, and practical ways to protect local ecosystems. These offerings will expand as our partnerships, facilities, and capacity develop.

  • We are developing future outreach opportunities but do not yet offer a regular schedule of presentations or workshops. Schools and community groups may contact us to express interest and discuss future opportunities.

  • Not yet. We are still developing our facilities and securing the required permits and certifications. Keep the bird warm, dark, and quiet, do not provide food or water, and follow our injured-bird guide to locate permitted assistance.

  • You can subscribe for updates, share our educational resources, practice responsible wildlife stewardship, and donate to help us develop accurate, accessible conservation materials and future outreach programs.
